THE WEATHER HEATS UP AND SO DOES THE SECTOR

¡Hola! ¿como están? ha subido el calor caleta esta semana pero con la subida del calor también con el progreso de las personas.
this week  has been a great week it has got so much hotter this week I’m not a fan but as the heat has gone up the progress in the ward has too. There are a lot of people doing super good but for now I would like to focus in 3 of them.

1 Jonny he is the husband of Yeny an active member from Columbia. He has been visiting with us for a while now- 3 or so weeks. We were not quite sure how he was feeling about what we have been teaching he seems receptive but we decided to go and find out for sure. So we go in and we show the restoration video and we invite him to be baptized and he says he would once he got his answer about the Book of Mormon. So we left them with the commitment to read and they are doing it as a family. It’s amazing. He is a bit cold about baptism still but I am sure he will warm up as he starts praying. He loves his family so much and we are hoping that if we can get him to see the goal not as baptism but as eternal families he will progress a lot more. Just today we helped them clean out there rain gutters it was great.

2 Magarita we found here in the park and lives with her daughter and son in law. The son in law is a member less active since he was 14 and is not super receptive. Margarita however, has some member friends that live outside the mission and every weekend she goes over there to work for them and they have been inviting her to activities. She has gone to a baptism before and knows a lot about the church. We just had our second lesson with her and it was amazing. We had a member come with us (Hermano Ernesto) and he bore such a powerful testimony that when we invited her to be baptized- she said yes without hesitation. It’s so amazing the power the members can have. They have brought her to the gospel and for them she is so open its amazing the power the members have. I hope all who read this will now what a powerful part the members play in conversion. Margarita let us in her door because of members and accepted the baptismal invite because of the members. When she is baptized it will be thanks to the members. She is a great example.

3 Juan Lorca, he is a less active whose brother lives in the ward next to ours and the elders sent us over to try and teach him. We went him talked to him his wife and their 2 daughters. They are an amazing family. Juan has been less active for a while and has forgotten a lot about the church. His wife was raised Evangelical but is not active in the church. She was a bit cold at first but as we went on explaining the plan of salvation, she opened up. It was so awesome I have a feeling that that family is also going to progress a lot.

I hope you are all having a great week and that you feel the lords love and care for us. It amazes me sometimes here walking in downtown Santiago sometimes it hits me how many people there are and I wonder how can he really know us all? There are so many-- does he know me? Then, I feel the peace that assures me he knows of me and my situation and each one of us.
I hope you all enjoy your week

URGENCY

¡Hola! Urgency that has been the big topic of my mission president this week and for a long time now. This week he really focused on how we use our time. If you think about it we have a very limited time each day 24 hours we pass at least 8 sleeping that gives us 16 what do we do with that 16 hours? Are we focused on what we should be or just passing the time. I want to share a bit about what I have felt happen with week

So first this week, we had the chance to do our wards open chapel. We opened up the chapel and where doing tours. My comp was in charge of the baptism part with another elder so I went with Elder Mangum of my district and we went out and did contacts. We hit the street and for the next 4 hours talked to everyone we saw. We let no one go by without talking to them. It was honestly some of the best time I have had on my mission. We were walking fast and working hard and we felt the blessing from on high. The time past fast for us the four hours just flew by and back at the chapel they were having good success. What would have happened if we had deiced to just stay and help at the chapel would we have been a help I think so but it would not have been the best use of our time.
Time is an amazing, thing it does not stop, you cannot call it back. We must make the best use of the time we have. Every moment every single one is important and not just for the missionaries but for everyone. The lord has a great work for each of us to do and we should dedicate all the time we have to accomplishing it.

This concept has blessed me and my companion a lot this week. Maybe we have not seen an explosive growth but I have felt an explosive growth in myself. To lay down each night and be able to say: Heavenly father today I worked hard today I worked my best.

There is a quote I love that say ´´perfection is not never making mistakes perfection is when at the end of the day you can look your friends and family (and heavenly father) in the eyes and say that you did it all that there was nothing more that you could have done that you should have done that you didn’t do. If you can say that you´re perfect´´ and as Christ said ´´be ye perfect even as I am´´
Let us all try to be a bit more perfect every day. Use the time you have a bit better find better things to do not just good things but better things even best things.

This week has been a good week for me and my comp I hope it has been great for all of you.

A GOOD DAY

este semana tuvimos el mejor día yo creo de me misión. So far In this whole week things have been going alright but really yesterday was the most amazing day I have had in a long time. So it started with a zone capatacion from the zone leaders about the use of time and being efficient.. That really hit me and my comp we wanted to try to find ways to be more efficient with our time so we head out after the meeting and get to work. This weekend we have a open chapel put on by the mission so we just start handing out invites to everyone. We go to a park to hand them out and we see to guys. who look like a couple of drunks out in the park. We say to our selves why not let’s give it a shot. so we head over and turns out they are completely sober and not only that but want to change their lives they told us how that day they had come to the park to get away from the alcohol and try to start over. as we talked we sat down and shared with them about the savior and his gospel and how it can help us change we invited them to the open chapel to hear the message that can change their lives. They were super receptive and open just goes to show you can’t judge from how they look.

Then that same day as we are walking down the street and pass by a door that I had knocked in division a few months ago. I felt the person come to mind and I stopped turned around and though to invite him to the open house. He let us in and we had the chance to teach him the first lesson and invite him to pray and read the folleto. it was amazing.
Also that day we got in and visited with Carlos who for the longest time has not been doing anything not reading nothing we were actually considering dropping him for a time then we go by yesterday and he had been reading and told us all about what he had read it was amazing.

Also we got to meet with 2 other people Daniel (stubborn but likes to have the missionaries over) and Eduardo (also a bit hard to work with but super nice) and had great lessons with them. Then to finish of the day we meet with Yenny and Yonny. Yenny who is a member helped us teach about prophets to her husband who believes it and promised to go and pray about Thomas s monsoon and about the church. When his answer comes I know this family will be a forever family.
That on top of the opportunity to go and listen to conference this week made it all amazing. I know for sure that they are inspired men that if we follow their counsel we will live happier lives. We should be forever grateful for the opportunity to listen and receive modern day scriptures. We should read and study them as much as we do the book of Mormon or the bible because they are gods words for us today.
I hope you all have a great week and enjoy it very much

A QUICK WEEK

This week went by super quick things happened so fast.

This week my comp had to go and get 3 ingrown toenails taken out so that means we had some down time. During that time I began to notice what a blessing the scriptures really our in our lives. There is so many little treasures to be found in them. a lot of the time we just pass over the harder parts ( the Isaiah chapters in the Book of Mormon) I have been realizing that there is a great wealth of knowledge to be had in them. There is a ton a messages in all of the scripture there is no accident scripture all scripture that we have is there for a purpose. Especially the book of Mormon. Every verse line and chapter has a reason and purpose for us. It’s amazing.

Also this week I saw the scriptures take effect in one of our less actives. Mariana she is usually hard to teach because she loves to rant and rant about things. This week we noticed a difference cause normally where she would rant she sat and listens and understood what we were saying. What made the difference? is that she that week had fulfilled her commitment to read in the Book of Mormon. By doing that she had the spirit with here more in her life and we could teach and she was ready to receive more. When we use what we have the lord is ready to bless us with more. There is always more to learn. We have never learned all the scriptures have to teach us.
This has been a great week we had the chance to go to MIM (museo interactivo mirador) and it was great.
This week has been great I hope you are doing well to. I hope you are all ready for general conference. This is going to be great we have the chance to receive modern day scriptures. The words of the prophets this weekend are scripture relived to us for us this day I hope you all enjoy it and this great week.

ANOTHER CHANGE AND NOTHING CHANGES

¡Hola! This week was changes but to my surprise and the surprise of all me and my comp did not have changes we have got 6 weeks more together. I’m super excited to be with him for this next change. Even better he is a district leader now so things got a lot easier for us. Actually this change in our ward no one left, we all stayed. In all, the stake there were only 3 people who left so it’s all really staying the same for this change. Except for the contacts those are getting a lot better.

For the last while we have been doing a lot of contacts in the streets a lot. This week in comp study we took some time and realized that we had been falling in a rut--doing it the same every time. The same all one size fits all answer. We realized that is what had been making this not work well. We decided to change that and to start focusing on the people again. That has given us great fruits. We have luck here in Chile cause just about everyone here knows who we are and what we do so with time the conversation eventually leads to religion and to beliefs. When we really took the time to listen to what the people say to ask more questions and talk less the people open up more.

This week with our investigators we have not had a whole lot of progress. We have however seen a few miracles. We have a less active woman named Sonia and she has been impossible to find. We were out with a member trying to do visits our set appointment fell sadly and we try 3 more houses and nothing. When the member makes the suggestion to go and visit Sonia I went but without much hope… Cause we had been going by for weeks and we never find her. Well we go and as we get there she just happens to be entering her apartment she lets us in and we have a powerful lesson about the book of Mormon. I know that was not just happenstance but that the lord had a place for us to be and a time and though the idea of the member was his purposes completed.

This week has been a great testimony building week. Doing a lot of contacts means a lot of chances to defend and testify about my beliefs and I love it. testifying to people really is the best way to build your testimony and doing that I can say stronger than ever that I know that this is the true church of Jesus Christ restored to the earth and the only path to eternal happiness
