FIRST BAPTISM

¡hola! This week was a really slow one. Honestly it was. The work slows a lot down here during this time because just about everyone in Chile is taking vacations. We were able to have some great stuff happen this week.

First off Happy new years!!! It was different being in a big city this year. When the clock struck 12 we could watch 7-8 fire work shows from our window. It was way cool.

This week was also the baptism of Jacob!!!! He is so awesome and his baptism was amazing. So we had planned to do the baptism at 5:00.  Me and my comp both hoping to do the impossible and start an event on time here in Chile. Well to no one’s surprise, 5:00 came and next to no one was there.  Not even Jacob. We call him and he is still 45 minutes away. So we start calling all sorts of people making sure that everyone can come. As the time goes on, more and more people come and then finally Jacob comes- and not alone ether. He invited three of his friends to the baptism. It was awesome! We have the baptism service and it was super spiritual. After words talking with Jacob, he said that today was the most important day of his life and indeed it was. It so awesome for me- his knowledge and testimony and love for the savior. Now he wants to share the gospel with his friends!

Next interesting story for the week is about Andres and Magerita. We have been working with them for awhile. Andres is less active and Magerita is a non member. They are great except they are living together but not married.  So recently, we were inviting them to pray about marriage. Well, Sunday we decided to talk more about that. We chose to invite them over to the Para´s house. We had another appointment to hit, so he left me with them to run the lesion. When we finally ask them about what they are going to do, they tell us that they are in the process of separating. That actually came as a bit of a shock for me. But we had prepared for such a situation. I was able to ask Hermano Para to share his feelings and he did so and his son (who is married recently) told a touching story about how he and his wife where close to separating. The spirit was strong it was great the two Hermano Parras gave Andreas and Magerita priesthood blessings to help them make a decision. When we finished the lesson, Magerita thanked us because she felt so much better than before. So right now they are open to listening to people and even want to talk to the bishop to work though the problems.

This week has truly been great not easy but a lot learned. I am feeling the refiner’s fire for sure here in my mission. I can see the lord trying to change me.  it’s just a matter of being humble enough. Remember that though all the trial of life, there is a purpose that there is a reason behind it. Never give up.  Never. Keep true to this gospel even if you have lost your reason why.  Stay true stay true. I know that this gospel is true with all my heart nothing will change that.
